Melbourne January 27, 2010 (Crickettomorrow.com): Will any one believe the same Bangladesh team which batted so brilliantly yesterday smashing Indian bowlers all over the parks could bat so terribly to loose 7 wickets for 22 runs .That also happened after night watchman Rajeev batted bravely for the most part of the morning session keeping Indian bowlers at bay?
Bangladesh started the day at 228 /3 still 83 runs in deficit. Ashraful was batting with night watch man Shahadat Rajeev. This pair batted wonderfully well with Ashraful keeping his cool and Rajeev playing like a genuine stroke maker. Bangladesh reached 290. Lunch was about half an hour away. Bangladesh was only 22 runs away to make India bat again.7 wickets in tact. Will anyone believe Bangladesh lost all 7 scoring 22 runs? Bangladesh batsmen commiteed suicide one after another like school boys beginners of cricket. It was surrender unconditionally. Wicket had no venom.Ojha or Zaheer did not bowl any unplayable delivery .It was sheer irresponsibility. Bangladesh from 3/290 got all out 312.India required just two balls to post 10 wicket victory and series white wash.
What a pity! What a pathetic display after such wonderful resistance of brave night watchman Shahadat Rajeev. Bangladesh was well on course to overhaul the first Innings deficit without any further casuality. The 4th wicket partnership of Ashraful and Shahadat produced 68 runs >Believe it or not Shahadat Rajeev was the senior partner. He smashed 40 with 4 fours and a six. Lunch was half an hour away. Deficit was only 21. Shahadat got out. But by then he performed his task. It is unimaginable to even accept what happened next.7 Bangladeshi batsmen Ashraful, Sauqib, Roquibul, Mahamudullah,Shafiul, Rubel meekly surrendered – some even committed suicide within the space of 11 overs and 22 runs. No analysis , no justifications can explain this. Zaheer got 7 of which he got 4 in his last two overs. Bangladesh could just avoid the ignominy of innings defeat through two hefty blows of Musfiqur who remained not out on 10. Zaheer from no where picked last 4 wickets and 7 in all to record 10 wickets haul in the match. The same Zaheer was almost toothless against Tamim onslaught yesterday. Inept irresponsible Bangladeshi batsmen made him monster.
There can not be any logical explanation of the self imposed demise. BCB and Government must conduct enquiry. Cricket loving nation must be made to know what might have happened in Bangladesh camp which caused such disaster. Such a dramatic collapse looks iffy. Some irresponsible players must get axed for irresponsible batting. Why players like Ashraful, Kayes and Roquibul should be sent to New Zealand after their awful performance. Those who do not hold nation in their heart must not get pleasure trips. Make these irresponsible players feel .It will be far better to play youngsters – U19 players in New Zealand than sending Kayes, Roquibul and Ashraful for joy ride. Even captain Saquib must be censored. It is totally unprofessional. Some thing must have gone wrong somewhere. Team management, selection committee must also share responsibility although players actually made the mess.
